Today's prayer is absolutely perfect: Beloved, I want you to be aware that you will encounter situations that require extraordinary patience to get through. You can't force anything, but you can trust Me to give you wisdom as perfect order is being established. Open your mind and heart to learn things that would otherwise not have the opportunity to understand. Never doubt that I am with you and that I am directing your steps, says the Lord.
Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
After speaking with the pulmonologist doctor, Dr. S, has reassured us that Ryan will still be a candidate for decannulation of the trachea. He showed his colleague, an ENT surgeon, the pictures from Ryan's scope showing the 90% blockage in his throat. The ENT feels confident that he can help Ryan. We will find out the possible options when we speak with him during appointment (which is not scheduled yet).
Ryan will be fitted for an AFO today. This is a brace for his right foot. It is beginning to turn in and the brace will help avoid this. It will be worn under his therapy boots that he wears on a regular basis.
More amazing new on Ryan's behalf!! During OT, the therapist was using a soccer ball to help with different movements of his right arm. She began to move the ball and Ryan followed it with his eyes. Once the ball became out of his vision path, he then moved his head to follow the ball in both directions!!! God has given Ryan sight! We are grateful dear Lord for the miraculous healing that we are witnessing!!!
More updates on the top Texas therapist that visited and assessed Ryan on Monday. As I mentioned before, she closed her book after 5 minutes of assessment and said that he was too advanced, BUT the story gets better!! Before the assessment, the top therapist spoke with our hospital's therapist about Ryan and also viewed his scans and charts. Our therapists spoke about the extraordinary improvements that they have seen in a short month. "Rumor has it," that she was not enthused by their observations and did not even want to listen to what they had to say. After the assessment, when she walked out she was shocked. She had said to our therapist that, "she has NEVER seen such improvements from a patient with this amount of brain trauma in less than 6 months". Let me remind you, Ryan's accident was only a littler of 2 months ago!!!!!! (a long time for us, yes, but a very short time for the doctors and therapists) Ryan has made a name for himself again in doing the impossible based on a doctor's expertise and book knowledge. So how do we explain this phenomenon? Simple. God.
Matthew 19:26: But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Today I had one of my students ask me in class, "Miss, I know your brother got hurt and stuff, will he ever be able to play sports and basketball again?" I smiled, (wanted to cry, but didn't - thanks God for that immediate strength) and said Ryan is going to be better than he was before. The student smiled back and said "Yup, you're right. I've been praying for him." And that was the end of the conversation, no questions or even hesitations. The innocent thoughts and prayers of children are truly amazing.
People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.
