Yesterday, Ryan was readmitted into TIRR Memorial Herman Hospital in the downtown Houston medical center. He is now an inpatient full time, per the doctor's orders. He will be receiving extensive physical, occupational, and speech therapy at a minimum of 5-6 hours a day. The doctors will also be working to adjust his multiple medications in order to find the best results to control his aggression, confusion, and other mental occurrences.
When Ryan arrived at TIRR, he was overwhelmed with amazing doctors, nurses, and therapists' smiles and praises. They were all so excited to him and gave him compliments of how well he looks and has progressed. Ryan does not remember being at TIRR or any of these people, but their warm welcoming gave Ryan an amazing transition from to the hospital. He felt very special and loved all the visits from his past staff. Ryan did pretend to know who they were so that he would not hurt his feelings, but would later ask who that was and how he knows them ... what a gentleman! :)
God has already blessed us with a tiny miracle as we re-entered into TIRR full-time. Since Ryan is a minor, he must have a private room in the hospital (which is what we have had before). Unfortunately, there were not any private rooms open at this time. The head nurse on the third floor on the wing that we were at last year really pushed for Ryan to be on this same wing again (also which is what we had hoped for due to the amazing staff). With all of these criteria, it made it difficult to know where we would end up. Once we got there, Ryan received a joint room all to himself! What this means is ... a HUGE room AND there is TWO BEDS in the room. Yes, 2 beds is a blessing because now Mom can actually sleep in a bed during Ryan's stay instead of a terribly hard pull-out chair that she endured for over 7 months. God gives us gifts even during the trying times!!!
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt James 1:2-6
We are undergoing a new journey into Ryan's recovery. Indeed, we have had some set-backs and regression but we are still confident that Ryan will receive a full recovery. We have been fortunate to witness and receive amazing miracles from our Lord, the ultimate healer, but I know that He is not done with Ryan's story. Just as the scripture says, "ask God, he gives generously...but you must believe". I believe and so does my family, that Ryan will soon be able to walk, talk, and live a prosperous life in Jesus's Might Name! I am asking you to not grow weary in your faith and stand with us in His name, praising Him, believing, and asking in prayer with confidence! Thank you in advance for being amazing prayer warriors on Ryan's behalf. I know God is glorified by each of you and you stand strong in faith and prayer for Ryan's 100% healing and recovery.
