More pieces of our prayers have been answered, Ryan's release date has been moved back until June 23. This allows for Ryan to have his trachea surgery on the 19th, and then gives him time to recover and enjoy the date he returns home (of course, this release date is tempory just like the others...but for now, this is the plan).
Today Ryan was extremly tired during his second round of physical therapy. He was nearing the end of the hour and it was time to walk. Ryan typed out that he was super tired but wanted to walk anyways. He did outstanding!! He didn't give up and he got things done the "Ryan Black" way! :)
Ryan is now understanding that he has memory loss and is becoming understanding with this concept. He is not ashamed to ask questions like, "who was that?" Or "how do I know him" and many other questions. He also constantly asks us to "tell him stories about himself to help his memory". YES... He asks this! He knows he has memory loss and he wants to hear stories about anything and everything! This can be a sad realization, but with the optimism and faith that is given to us by our Lord, we are able to notice this as a step to recovery ... To simply smile, and to continue to relive Ryan's life the best we can. So just a warning, if you come visit ... Be prepared to tell Ryan all types of stories and memories that you have of him. He loves it and I know it helps him pieces the puzzle together.
Please continue praying for Ryan's memory as well as his trachea surgery that will occur on the 19th. Thank you again to everyone that has followed God's miracle that was given to Ryan and our family. We are blessed more than we can explain.
