Well after fighting with the insurance company to extend Ryan's stay in order to make the dates more convenient for the surgery, we got the extension. Unfortunately, nothing seems to come easily. Ryan's release date is now scheduled for June 19th, this is the exact same date as his trachea surgery. We do not want him to go home that evening for multiple reasons; we want Ryan's homecoming to be a celebration, we also do not want him to wake up from anesthesia at the house in worry that it will cause confusion and even frustration. Therefore, we are still working with the doctors and insurance to adjust the release date or the surgery.
Ryan is becoming very strong and motivated to get better. He is now becoming more mobile with his right arm and hand. As of today, he can now move his right fingers slowly, indicating a 1, a 5, and a thumbs up. This is a huge accomplishment!!! We are forever grateful of God's continuous work and pathway towards the promised and complete restoration.
In church yesterday morning Mom decided to give Ryan's testimony. Indicating nearly 7 months ago that she was asked to say goodbye to her son (this was the first time that we have ever mentioned this in front of Ryan), she was worried about how he would take it. Although, God unexpectedly put it on her heart that she should share Ryan's full story with the congregation. She went on to explain that Ryan is doing everything that doctors never thought possible and the proof of God's work to everyone is that his brain scan looks the exact same as it did the night or Ryan's accident. That shows only God could heal Ryan and nobody can deny this miracle. She prayed for continued faith and promise of the compelete restoration, including speech so that Ryan will be able to give his own testimony to the generations to come. The words were powerful, tears were shed, faith was renewed, prayers were spoken, and praise was given to Our Father. Ryan grabbed his alphabet board to speak to Mom and typed "I am ok." Ryan heard for the first time the extent of his accident and his simple, but powerful response was filled with so much faith and hope. I cannot help but cry when I think of how strong God has made Ryan. He is not worried and Ryan knows he will continue to be healed. Thank you God for your mercy and overwhelming peace and love that you have put in all of our hearts. You are truly alive and continue to surround us with hope from the countless people we encounter.
Philippians 4:7 - And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
