Ryan was transferred to a new full-time, inpatient facility specializing in rehabilitation of brain injuries but primarily focusing on behavior. The facility is called Touchstone and is located in Conroe, Texas. Ryan was emitted as an inpatient on Tuesday, December 2nd. He has an understanding that this is a type of ... "pre-college" to get him ready for a university. He has his own room but shares a "jack-and-jill" bathroom with another male patient (much like dorm rooms). Our prayers are focused that Ryan will find peace in this new facility and that he will be able to communicate and make friends that understand his struggles. We are also praying that his anger and aggression will be more controlled from the structure of this facility.
Ryan still loves visitors, so we do encourage his friends and family to visit him, but Touchstone has very strict guidelines for visitors in order to keep Ryan in a routine. Please contact a family member before visiting so that they can give you all of the specifications regarding time and rules. Thank you in advance for understanding. :)
Ryan's first night alone was hard on all of the family members, but the nurses reported that he did very well. He also seems to be engaging in conversation with other patients during living room time, meals, and group therapies. I have a huge sense of peace. I truly feel that this could be the next huge step in God's plan. Even though leaving him is extremely difficult on us, this could be the best thing for him. I continue to be confident and rely on God's promises that He is steadfast and will always complete His works. Ryan is a work of our Lord and He will be healed completely.
Philippians 1:6 reminds us of this promise: And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
